We have officially lived in our new house for 20 days now and while we still have boxes full of stuff, we are closer to having colors for our walls.  At first I was thinking “Ah, lets leave the walls white for now – we may end up liking it”.  I was oh so wrong.  I feel like we are living in a white (very white) box.

Time for some color!  So color is what we have.  Cobalt blue for the office; grass green for the dining room; warm ivory for the family room; hazy purple for the kitchen and dirty brown for the living room.  Thoughts??

Andrew and I have been so very busy lately.  I know we have mentioned it on our blog before- but man are we busy.  This week is this first time since I can remember, where we actually have some free time.  But, Andrew is having to work much overtime this week and the next few weeks to come.  I have four big weddings coming up this fall, and our house is still not in order.

Yesterday was Labor Day and we both feel like we missed out on the summer.  Not only that, but I really miss my friends!  I have not had a girl night in forever, and I am feeling left out on all of the happenings in my small network.  Andrew and I plan to have some close friends over very soon, hopefully you can make it!

On a side note -I am THRILLED to say that I am finished with NAWBO and now looking for other networking opportunities in Lexington.  Hopefully something that is less catty and time-consuming. 

Andrew and I are in our new house, and it is really starting to feel like home.  We have our new furniture in the family room – which looks fantastic!  Now we need to find our artwork.  For some reason I am really feeling inspired by these images.  Any advice?

Although Insight was actually able to install our service one day after we moved in, we’re still having Internet access issues so I thought this was fitting (and coincidentally in good timing)…

OK, very tired….. But we are officially moved into our new home.  Our little box on the hillside… filled with boxes… and boxes… and two very very tired sleepy people (and one angry cat).  More to come later.

In the midst of moving bliss, it hit me. We are moving. We will no longer live in the house where Andrew proposed to me in the bathroom. We will no linger live in the house where we would camp-out in the living room on the foldout couch bed. We will no longer live in the house where we hosted our first Thanksgiving Dinner, and we will no longer live in the house where we spent out first night as Mr. and Mrs. Ortwein.

Andrew is such a fantastic husband, he let me just cry as he held me and we talked about the wonderful memories we have made in this house. And now, the times that I complained about it feeling too cramped, or cluttered feel so utterly sad. I love this house- for the memories that will never leave my mind. Andrew carrying me over the threshold, finding a mouse in the half bath at 3am, waging war against our neighbors “The Littles”, and the countless times we danced in the living room – sometimes with no music but the sound of two lovebirds talking to each other. Oh how I will miss this house and it’s fabulous memories!!

So the walk-through went pretty well.  Andrew and I were impressed with Ball Homes and how detailed they were.  I guess they have been doing this long enough that that know what they are doing.  We are still on track for our August 20th closing.  OMG!  That is only 3 days!! WOW!  We close at 11am and the movers arrive shortly after that.  Once our internet is set up we will post new pictures of the inside before and after the invasion of boxes.  Until then…..

So we are suppose to move into our beautiful new home in less than one week. Yeah for us… except for the crooked walls, unlevel countertops and pocket door that looks like it came out of a fun house. Tomorrow morning we wake up bright and early for a walk-through with Ball Homes. So far we have been very pleasently surprised with the communication and organization from Ball Homes, and although we had a change in general contractors things are still on target for our closing on August 20. As of right now, we are expecting to stay on schedule with our move. Tomorrow we may have a much different story to tell. So until then… we will relax and look forward to our new home.
