Breathtaking

January 10th, 2009 by andrew

One of my hobbies has always been stargazing. Despite a couple of college-level astronomy classes and a telescope that cost about the same as three car payments, I still consider myself a lazy, amateur astronomer. Living in any city that puts out a fair amount of light pollution, it is too easy to forget how fascinating the night sky really is. I am really trying to make an effort this year to use my telescope more and to travel to places that allow you to see much more than just Orion’s Belt.

As with any New Year’s resolution, we always need reminders to keep us on our path. This video should do just that. I think I literally forgot to breath while watching this.  Enjoy.

Welcome 2009!

January 4th, 2009 by rayna

Hard to believe that it is already 2009.  Where did 2008 go?  Seriously?  ;)   Andrew and I were so incredibly busy throughout 2008 that I feel like we missed it.  Of course, we did not just skip an entire year.  We had some really wonderful things happen.  Here is a short sampling of where our 2008 went.

  • Started a business
  • Went to San Francisco for a week
  • Decided to build a house
  • Planned some fabulous weddings
  • Was nominated for a couple of awards
  • Got really involved in NAWBO
  • Met some really great new people
  • Laughed a lot, cried some and ate lots of chocolate
  • Decided NAWBO was not a good fit for me
  • Went to Edisto Island, SC, Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC
  • Made some amazing memories
  • Finished the house and moved in
  • Got a new puppy (Molly)
  • Hosted Thanksgiving Dinner
  • Expanded new business
  • Had a fantastic Christmas
  • Relaxed for New Years…

WOW!  That was just some of the things that we did this year.  Next year will be even crazier, more exciting and a ton more fun.  We are hoping to have small bursts of relaxation during 2009!  Cheers!

What a fantastic day!

December 5th, 2008 by rayna

Today I have gifts to wrap, a presentation to write, an office to organize, laundry and oh so much more.  But instead of actually being productive I am sitting here with laptop in hand and Molly snuggled up on the right and Sophie snuggled up on the left.  I will sit here until I have to get up, I know this is the most unproductive thing I can do all day – but it is the most satisfying.  ;)   What are you doing today?

We love Halloween!

October 31st, 2008 by rayna

Fall is my favorite time of year.  The weather is cool enough to wear a sweater and drink hot chocolate while you snuggle with your sweetie, and fall also means its time for Halloween.  Andrew and I are lucky enough to be in a beautiful new home this fall and with that new home comes new trick-or-treaters’.  Kids dressed in everything from scary to cute to sweet and even innocent.  Yes, Halloween is the time of year where you can pretend to be anyone you want.

I can’t tell you who Andrew and I are dressing up as this year… but if you check out the pic below you may figure it out.  If not and you really can’t wait then stop by on Halloween night, we always break out the costumes while handing out candy to the ghosts and goblins.

We hope you have a safe and happy Halloween!

Girl time!

October 23rd, 2008 by rayna

Yesterday was a full day of meetings and appointments, but at the end of the day I sat down with Mallory and Amber.  We went to Saul Good, a great little resturant near the mall.  We talked and laughed for close to three hours, it was fantastic.  Just wanted to let these girls know that I had a fabulous time and I look forward to many more fun nights!  Oh and… I am really working on that website we discussed.  Woohoo! ;)

Good Times…

October 11th, 2008 by rayna

Andrew has been organizing his photo collection and he stumbled accross our 2006 Florida Trip.  We had a fantastic time that year (as we always do).  Chris, Andrew and I went to Tampa Bay and hit up the Tampa Zoo for a day.  It was super fun!  We made fun of animals, fed them, etc.  I really wanted to snatch one of those adorable Meerkat.  OMG!  How fun would that be?  Actually our Sophie reminds us of a Meerkat all of the time.  She does that same pose!  We also saw some fantastic little monkeys and even named a girraffe Boras.  Great memories!

With airfare from Lexington to Tampa being so reasonable right now…. we just may take another trip to that area!  I will keep you posted for those that may want to make it a group adventure.  Stay tuned…

Not so sure about this…

October 8th, 2008 by rayna

My morning usually consists of making my to-do list for the day and checking out my RSS feeds.  Well today I got a huge surprise!  You know that I am a wedding and event planner and most of the blogs I subscribe to pertain to the wedding industry.  Most of it is gorgeous pictures of fabulous weddings, ideas and flowers.  Sometimes there is something really awesome and I must blog about it.  Usually I just put those posts on my AP Blog, but today you special people get this one.  Why?  Well – it absolutely cracked me up and I seriously thought you would enjoy it more than my wedding/event readers.  Read it and you will know why I shared it with you amazing people (assuming someone is reading this) and not my AP reader.  Enjoy!

“Seriously, it’s like a My Little Pony and Tinkerbell totally got it on nasty-style in a magical rhinestone shop and this dress was their sparkling bastard love child. And I mean that in the very best possible way”
